Markham, Ontario – With great anticipation, LaunchHub launched on September 14th, 2018 as one of the first Chinese-Canadian bilingual incubators and accelerators helping entrepreneurs grow their business in Canada and beyond.

The opening ceremony was held in Markham Ontario, the self-acclaimed high-tech capital of Canada. It was witnessed by over 50 attendees, including Ontario MPP Daisy Wai, Markham councillor Alan Ho, Richmond Hill councillor David West, the senior business consultant of the Ministry of Economic Development Vernier Tao, director of innovation at York University Sarah Howe, and many young entrepreneurs, business leaders, and journalists.

LaunchHub helps Ontario attract and retain talented Chinese-speaking young entrepreneurs, offering Chinese businesses training and providing entrepreneurship support. LaunchHub provides knowledgeable mentors to young innovators who have ambition and potential with business coaching and professional services, and helps them clear obstacles during the initial stage of start-up, expand business networks, obtain start-up capital, and promote the growth of their innovative enterprises. In addition, LaunchHub offers business development acceleration services to Chinese enterprises, helping them expand their business outside of Canada.

With these services, LaunchHub helps to retain talented Chinese-speaking entrepreneurs in Canada, most of whom have studied at Canadian colleges and universities, who might otherwise set up their innovative companies elsewhere. LaunchHub also acts as a soft-landing pad for entrepreneurs in China who want to start and grow their business in Canada; this brings their technologies and intellectual property into North America. It is expected that by retaining and attracting talents, LaunchHub will contribute to Ontario’s economy.

LaunchHub is partnered with York University and its incubator, YSpace. The partnership with YSpace allows LaunchHub to better support and offer excellent training to young entrepreneurs.

Other partners of LaunchHub includes: SCP Enterprise Group (promoter of Canadian industries and investments to people in China), Shanghai AMC Fortune Investment (provider of professional service to Chinese SMEs in China), IMPACT CPAs LLP (provider of full-service auditing, accounting, tax and consulting services in Canada), and TMT Law Firm (law firm in areas of technology, media, telecommunication and business laws).

The opening ceremony was hosted by Mr. Wei Hua, co-founder of LaunchHub, who is an experienced Chartered Professional Accountant. The other co-founder Mr. David Laliberte, an experienced lawyer, introduced to the guests about the organization and main functions of LaunchHub. Several guests including MPP Daisy Wai, councillor Alan Ho, councillor David West, and director of Innovation York Sarah Howe also gave speeches of support.

During the opening ceremony, LaunchHub announced its strategic cooperation with China Dandelion Medicare-Medicine Innovation Park. It supports the startups in the field of healthcare –  providing funds, professional services, and insight into the Chinese market. It was also revealed that the cooperation between LaunchHub and many other Chinese incubators and investment funds are underway.

Finally, at the opening ceremony Mr. Lyman Dong, the president of LaunchHub’s founding partner SCP Enterprise Group, announced that their team has successfully won a competitive bid with Global Affairs Canada, to design and build the Canada Pavilion at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE). Many Canadian businesses will be present to promote Canadian products and trade at the inaugural CIIE in November 2018.

In conjunction, LaunchHub announced that it would host a Canada business startup competition by early October 2018, where three to five winners of local startups with great potentials will be presented in China during the first China International Import Expo in November 2018 to obtain the Chinese capital and explore the Chinese market.
